Supermajor Shell has signed a deal for the charter of two new-build LNG powered tank barges which will run on the River Rhine.
The Anglo-Dutch player will receive the first vessel in Spring 2013 from Peters Shipyards in Kampen, The Netherlands.
Both 110 metre long barges will be operated by Interstream Barging.
The units will be new additions to the existing Shell Rhine Fleet and will be set to work in The Netherlands, Switzerland and Germany.
