A giant boxship owned by Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC) got stuck into the sandbank of the Suez Canal for three hours earlier today.

The 13,050-teu MSC Clorinda (built 2012) reported a machinery transmission malfunction and grounded at around 05:00 UTC, the company confirmed.

MSC added the vessel was later cleared and afloat again by approximately 08:10 UTC.

According to marinetraffic.com, the MSC Clorinda has now set sail again and resumes its passage.
