Chinese Maritime Transport (CMT) has returned to Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry with an order for two bulker newbuildings worth $117m.

The Taiwanese shipping company has ordered the 210,000-dwt newcastlemaxes as part of the company’s fleet-expansion programme. The deal does not include options for any additional vessels.

CMT assistant vice president James Tarng confirmed the order, saying the vessels will be LNG-ready and are slated for delivery during the third quarter of 2023.
