Taiwan’s Wan Hai Lines has added 12 more containership newbuildings worth around $586m to its growing orderbook.

The latest order spree brings the company's spending on boxship newbuildings this year to $2.6bn.

The liner company disclosed that it has booked a dozen 3,055-teu newbuildings at Nihon Shipyard — a joint venture between Imabari Shipbuilding and Japan Marine United (JMU).

The order brings the total number of feeder containerships that Wan Hai has ordered at the same Japanese shipyard to 24 vessels costing $1.15bn.
