Seaspan Corp has inked a $1.05bn newbuilding order for 10 containerships of 7,000 teu in a second deal involving Israeli liner operator Zim.

The leading containership owner placed the LNG-fuelled vessel order on the back of 12-year charters worth around $1.5bn.

The company also unveiled plans to strengthen its coffers through a $500m bond issue.

Seaspan did not name the shipyard that will build the vessels for delivery in the fourth quarters of 2023 and 2024.
