A UK report has pinned the blame for an LNGC snap-back incident on mooring rope fatigue.

Nakilat's 267,335-cbm Zarga (built 2010) was conducting berthing operations at the South Hook LNG terminal in Milford Haven in March 2015 when a line parted, hitting an officer and causing him severe head trauma requiring emergency surgery.

The Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) said the line snapped due to tensile overload even though the load being applied to the line at the time was less than a quarter of its specified minimum breaking load.
