Taiwan’s Franbo Lines has entered the capesize bulker sector by acquiring a secondhand vessel — and is also expanding its fleet by ordering six handysize bulkers at Japanese shipyards.

A bulker company that focuses on vessels below handymax capacity, Franbo has expanded its fleet portfolio by purchasing the Japanese-built 177,000-dwt capesize XYG Fortune (built 2006).

A Franbo executive confirmed the acquisition of the ship, adding that in the past month, it had been bought, delivered and renamed XH Mariner.
