The reshuffling of global trading patterns following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has boosted VLCC traffic into Europe, new data shows.

The continent is responsible for a third of the additional monthly 27 VLCC liftings on the spot market in the first half of the year compared with 2021, according to analysis by Tankers International.

The extra liftings are the equivalent of employing more than 30 VLCCs full time if they were all traded between the Middle East Gulf and Singapore, it said.
