Excelerate Energy and Germany have formalised a deal for the country’s fifth floating storage and regasification unit.

Excelerate chief executive Steven Kobos and Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action head Patrick Graichen signed the agreement in Berlin, which will see the 138,000-cbm FSRU Excelsior (built 2005) dispatched to Wilhelmshaven early next year.

“The deployment of the FSRU Excelsior to Germany demonstrates our commitment to strengthening energy security at a time when traditional energy sources have proven unreliable,” Kobos said.
