Lightering companies are proving reluctant to handle a seized Iranian crude cargo sitting on a Greek suezmax off Texas.

The Wall Street Journal has cited sources close to the matter as saying a government plan to auction off the 800,000 barrels on Empire Navigation's 159,000-dwt Suez Rajan (built 2011) has so far failed.

US companies fear reprisals in the Persian Gulf if they touch the oil, the sources claimed.
