Scrap prices on the Indian subcontinent have again fallen below the $500-per-ldt mark despite a recent rally that saw shipowners getting offers well into the mid-$500s level.

The sudden drop at the beginning of last week did not diminish the number of deals that were struck, especially in the dry bulk sector, where Dubai-based Lila Global and a couple of Chinese companies agreed to purge their fleets of unwanted tonnage.
