Yangzijiang Shipbuilding wants to see an end to state subsidies for China's government-owned shipyards.
“As a shipbuilder, we are not seeking any shipbuilding subsidy from the state," Yangzijiang chairman Ren Yuanlin told TradeWinds. "But we would like to see a fair competition in the industry."
Ren is referring to so-called “capital injections” from Beijing to state-owned shipyards when they receive orders from government-controlled shipping companies.
