A planned LNG transshipment hub off the Kamchatka peninsula in the Russian Far East would use a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) in a possible combination with a floating storage unit (FSU).

MOL, Yamal LNG lead shareholder Novatek and Japanese trader Marubeni announced in November that they had teamed up to study the concept.

The idea is to station a relatively large FSRU of up to Q-Max size, possibly supported by a vessel serving as an FSU, MOL senior managing executive officer Takeshi Hashimoto says.
