Port Kembla in New South Wales (NSW) is to be the home to Australia’s second FSRU, according to plans laid out by its developers.

Australian Industrial Energy (AIE), backed by Fortescue Metals Group chairman Andrew Forrest, expects the LNG import terminal to be operational by 2020.

The terminal, which will be named the Port Kembla Gas Terminal (PKGT), will have the ability to supply in excess of 100 petajoules per annum, sufficient to meet over 70% of NSW's total gas needs.
