Competition among the leading protection and indemnity clubs could be opened up as a result of a major revision of the International Group Agreement (IGA).
The word in the market is there may be a significant toning down of restrictions on free competition between the clubs, possibly in time for the February 2019 renewal.
The restrictions that could be relaxed cover charterers' risks, release calls, the core price-fixing agreement and rules relating to specialist ship operations.
