Shipping chemicals should remain a key business for Norway's Jo Odfjell despite the sale of its chemical tankers to competitor Stolt-Nielsen in a $575m deal two years ago, the company's chairman Tore Hopen said.

The sale meant that Bergen-based Jo Odfjell went from being an industrial to a financial shipping player, Hopen explained.

When the deal was announced, it was believed Odfjell had exited the chemical sector.
