Global financial and technology heavyweight BGC Partners has snapped up international shipbroking firm Poten & Partners.
BGC will take full control of the 80-year-old shipbroker in a transaction which reflects strong institutional investor interest in shipping services companies.
Shaun Lynn, president of BGC Partners, said Poten was a strategic purchase which complemented its established commodities offering.
