The Tsakos family’s private shipping business has beaten the Greek owner’s publicly-listed entity to sell off some of its older tankers.
Earlier this year, New York-listed Tsakos Energy Navigation (TEN) revealed a plan to start selling vintage tonnage, but has not yet done so.
Instead, Tsakos Shipping & Trading has found a buyer for the Samsung-built, 114,000-dwt Pytheas (built 2004), which has gone to a Scandinavian limited partnership company for $15m.
