A Knutsen OAS Shipping LNG carrier has suffered hull damage in a grounding incident in the Pacific Ocean.

The shipowner confirmed to TradeWinds that the 173,400-dwt Sevilla Knutsen (built 2010) was in ballast en route from Japan to Australia at the time of the accident.

It added that the company's priority was now to have it repaired in the Philippines.

A report in the Cantabria Liberal daily said the vessel hit an uncharted reef or atoll on 17 April, damaging its bow.
