DeA Capital Alternative Funds has bought up three product tankers and an aframax tanker from the Italian market.

The tankers, worth an estimated $59m in total, have been taken over by a new shipping vehicle run with senior management formerly employed at Rome-based tanker owner Fratelli d’Amico Armatori.

The alternative asset management unit of Milan-based DeA Capital said it had completed the repossession of the 116,000-dwt Neverland Dream (built 2010), an aframax tanker that was formerly in the fleet of Italy’s Finaval Group.
