Some 77 LNG carriers need to be ordered to supply the under-construction new liquefaction plants, according to French membrane-type LNG cargo containment system designer GTT.

Speaking in a first-half results briefing, chairman and chief executive Philippe Berterottiere said that GTT estimates 171 LNG carriers will be needed for LNG projects that have been approved and are being built. The figure is based on the company’s own tonne-mile forecasts and project data from consultant Wood Mackenzie.
