A second floating storage and regasification unit-based LNG import project has been launched for the French island dependency of New Caledonia — throwing up questions as to whether a first and now rival development will go ahead.

TradeWinds has learned that French energy company Engie has launched a request for quotations for a project to supply LNG to a planned import facility in the Bay of Prony, to the south-east of a planned rival project in Noumea.
