Viking Supply Ships has seen a contract with key client Eni Norge shredded.

The 220-tbp Njord Viking (built 2011) is being handed back from a deal that was revised last year to run until the end of 2016.

Viking says it will place the AHTS in the North Sea spot market while it seeks an alternative contract.

The shipowner, which is locked in restructuring talks with bondholders, will receive a $13,300 per day compensation payment.
