Swiss technology company ABB is to supply power and storage solutions for Iceland's first all-electric ferry.

The 550-passenger Herjolfur II was ordered in 2017 by the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration at Crist in Poland and is due for delivery this year.

The ship will make 3,600 annual trips in the rough waters between Landeyjahofn on the mainland and Westman Island, covering 13km in about 45 minutes.
