NYK has said it has become the first Japanese shipping company to carry out a carbon-neutral voyage.
It offset 5,000 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2), equivalent to the emissions from its 7,000-ceu car carrier Aries Leader (built 2014) between Japan and the Middle East.
The ship is designed to cut emissions by 30% compared to existing large pure car carriers.
