Samsung Heavy Industries has won an order for nine aframax tankers from an unnamed Greek shipowner, it said Thursday.
The shipbuilder said the 110,000-dwt tankers are due to be delivered between late 2011 and mid-2012. The deal is worth an initial $500m.
The contract also includes options for an additional three vessels in the next month, Samsung added.
This is the latest in a series of crude tanker newbuilding orders won by the world’s third largest shipbuilder in recent months.
