The Korean government is throwing its weight behind the revival of STX Offshore and Shipbuilding (STX O&S) and Sungdong Shipbuilding.
According to a senior government official cited by Business Korea, the ministry of trade, industry and energy (MOTIE) has discussed restructuring methods with executives including Sungdong vice president Oh Eun-sang.
A report was commissioned from accountants Samjong KPMG on the competitiveness of the two shipbuilders.
