Spanish shipbuilder Astilleros Gondan has received a £51.8 million ($64m) contract from the UK’s Northern Lighthouse Board (NLB) to build a hybrid powered aid to navigation tender.
Described as state-of-the-art, the new ship will meet the environmental targets set out in the UK Government Clean Maritime Plan
Scheduled for delivery in June 2025, it will be named Pole Star, the fifth NLB vessel to bear that name since 1892.
