Trafigura goes on clean MR charter spree

Swiss trader Trafigura has taken four MR product tankers on period charters.

The company is paying $14,000 per day for the 50,000-dwt Arctic Blizzard and Arctic Bay (both built 2006) from Cyprus-based Interorient Shipmanagement for a year. The MRs have ice-class 1A capabilities.

TradeWinds understands that the deals include additional optional periods.

The same terms are reported to have been concluded for the 50,000-dwt Gold Point (built 2011), which Trafigura fixed from Italy's Pietro Barbaro.
