Belgian VLCC giant Euronav has revealed more of its hand in the race to cope with IMO 2020 fuel regulations entering into force on 1 January.

This has involved new financing, hiring a dedicated team and buying up very low sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO), as well as a potential shift on its anti-scrubber stance.

CEO Hugo De Stoop said: “The introduction of new sulphur emissions regulations as part of IMO 2020 is one of the most progressive and significant developments for all shipping segments over the past fifty years.
