Product tanker markets have been so bad for so long that new Concordia Maritime boss Erik Lewenhaupt has been thinking the unthinkable.

In the Stena-controlled company’s fourth-quarter report, the chief executive asked: “Is this the demise of the tanker market we are now witnessing?”

But he concluded: “No, probably not. There is still an underlying need for transport.

“Crude oil, refined products, vegetable oils, renewable fuels and chemicals all need to be shipped.
