Relatives of Betelgeuse tanker disaster to bring court action

Family and friends of the 50 people who died in the Betelgeuse tanker disaster on Ireland’s Whiddy Island in 1979 are planning to take a case to the country’s High Court.

The French-Irish Association of Relatives and Friends of the Betelgeuse want Ireland’s High Court to rule that the cause of death recorded on the death certificates of those who died be changed to “unlawful death”.
