UK shipbroker Simpson Spence Young (SSY) says owners are facing further bunkering delays due to the IMO 2020 changeover in China and South Korea.

"Logistics bottlenecks" are increasing waiting times as barges are taken out of the market for cleaning to allow them to switch from high sulphur fuel oil (HSFO) to low sulphur fuel oil (LSFO).

It was already known that Singapore was facing delays of up to 10 days, but SSY said in its December shipping report that there are also hold-ups of about four days in South Korea and about five days in southern China.
