Overseas Shipholding Group (OSG) boss Morton Hyman is retiring at the end of the year.

The 67-year-old Hyman came to OSG in 1963, took on the president's title in 1970 and succeeded founder Rafael Recanati as chairman upon his death in 1999.

Company sources say Hyman did not go into much detail about his reasons for the surprise move, other than to say the time was appropriate and that he was pleased to be leaving OSG in strong shape.
