Three of the world’s biggest suezmax owners are teaming up in a key alliance for their non-time-chartered ships aimed at improving spluttering spot-trading margins in the sector, sources say.

Diamond S Shipping has been the driver of a new venture, which is expected to include tanker giants Euronav and Frontline. It is set to be announced imminently.

The agreement comes eight months after dissolution of the Teekay-run Gemini Tankers pool, through which Diamond S had operated eight suezmaxes.
