The Paris MOU has banned a veteran cargoship for a year after it failed checks under the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC).

The port state organisation said the 1,900-dwt Dana 1 (built 1973) was detained in Salerno, Italy, in March due to deficiencies relating to wages, as well as a damaged cold room and a defective sleeping room.

It was held for 18 days with 10 deficiencies, which also included problems with emergency lighting and firefighting equipment.
