Another high-profile shipping clan has dragged Greece’s Allied Maritime into court in the US following the collapse of a charter contract.

Ofer Ship Holdings of Israeli has asked a federal judge in Illinois to freeze funds in anticipation of a favourable arbitration ruling related to a dispute involving the 53,500-dwt bulker Red Diamond (built 2011).

According to documents which identify Archer Daniels Midland as garnishee, affiliate Forton Shipping claims the Dimitris Marinis-backed operator failed to pay hire and a recent bunker bill linked to a charter that began in March 2011.
