The Ukrainian master of an MSC containership has gone missing during a passage off Italy.
Genova Today reported that crew from the 2,054-teu MSC Giannina (built 1997) have told police the captain disappeared on 19 or 20 October.
A search of the sea in the area has not found any trace of the 54-year-old man.
The vessel docked in Genoa so that an investigation could begin.
