In a stock exchange filing, the state-owned company said it would contract five 14,000-teu vessels, but did not reveal details of yard, price or delivery dates.
Last month, it added eight new bulkers in China in a deal worth $312m.
It has 40 other newbuildings on its books, including 22 bulkers, tankers and containerships penned since last September, Clarksons says.
