Newly enlarged Hanseatic Unity Chartering (HUC) may be among the largest boxship chartering units but it will have little effect on what remains a fragmented charter market, says managing director John Freydag.
“We’re price-takers, not price-makers,” said Freydag from his offices in Hamburg after the deal was announced on Monday.
The addition of two influential shipowning partners to the chartering platform is about obtaining synergies and better oversight of the container shipping market, says Freydag.
