The container line said the Brazil – US east coast (BEC) loop will stop from 31 October with a northbound sailing from Santos and a southbound voyage from Norfolk.
The US east coast will instead be served with the new SEC run in partnership with Hamburg Sud, NYK, Alianca and CSAV.
This amalgamates two separate strings with seven modern 5,500-teu vessels.
Port rotation is: New York - Philadelphia - Norfolk - Charleston - Jacksonville - Port Everglades - Suape - Santos - Buenos Aires - Rio Grande - Itapoa - Santos - Rio de Janeiro - Salvador - Pecem - New York
The service is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2014, subject to regulatory approval.
