Arklow Shipping has reportedly ordered seven bulker newbuildings from Netherlands-based shipbuilder Royal Bodewes, playing to their strengths in shortsea dry-bulk shipping.

Italian classification society Rina on Wednesday said it has signed a contract with Royal Bodewes to provide plan approval, construction oversight and classification for the ships.

Royal Bodewes are building the 5,267-gt vessels in Hoogezand, Netherlands, for Irish dry-bulk shipowner Arklow Shipping, Rina said.
