Russian rifle maker and shipyard group Kalashnikov is training its sights on shipping with a new plan to build eight bulkers.

The vessels will carry grain along the Volga River and in the Caspian, Black, Azov and Mediterranean Seas, the Kommersant business daily reported, citing the company.

The total investment has been put at an eye-watering RUB 10bn ($169m) for the 7,000-dwt units, which will be delivered through to 2022, the report said.
