Tsuneishi Shipbuilding of Japan has updated its design portfolio with the addition of an upsized, wider-beam kamsarmax bulker.

The Fukuyama-based company has increased the capacity of its main kamsarmax design from 82,000 dwt to 88,000 dwt, naming the ship the Wide Kamsarmax.

“Ships of the same category have slowly grown bigger due to the increase in maritime transportation as a result of the growth of the global economy," shipyard officer Shiga Yutaro said.
