Three crew have been saved after falling overboard following a reef grounding in Vietnam.

The 1,900-dwt cargoship Hai Minh 36 BIDV (built 2009) got stuck at Hon Lac, Van Phong, on Monday, the Thanh Nien website reported.

The hull was punctured near the engine room, causing water ingress.

Three seafarers fell into the water, but Vitaco's nearby 13,100-dwt tanker Petrolimex 12 (built 2008) managed to pick them up.

They were transferred to a rescue vessel and pumps were used to stem the flooding.
