Prolific sale-and-purchase dealings have led to a sharp rise in the Greek-owned fleet since the start of this decade, according to data from Clarksons.

The pattern changed in 2016, however, with newbuildings accounting for a greater slice of the expansion, Clarksons researcher Alex Springer says.

In a report Springer said the Greek fleet has swelled by 90 million gross tons since January 2010, a jump of 59%.
