A Japanese chemical tanker and its crew which were being held captive off Somalia since the end of October have been released.

The are no injuries reported amongst the crew of 22 onboard the 11,676-dwt Golden Nori (built 1997) which was taken by pirates off the Yemeni island of Socotra on 28 October.



A maritime source in East Africa said the tanker is now heading out to sea and confirmed all the crew were safe and that no shots had been fired to secure the ship's release.
