Compagnie Maritime Belge (CMB) is to carry out trials of a ballast water treatment system (BWTS) developed by a company owned by Warren Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway.
The Belgian shipowner will trial Envirocleanse’s system aboard the Bocimar-owned 175,840-dwt bulker Mineral New York (built 2010).
The initial installation will be designed as a pilot study to reflect much of CMB's fleet and will include the treatment of a cargo hold being used in part as a ballast tank.
