The Greek owner of a bulker caught in a drugs sting in Venezuela this week has protested the crew innocence as they and the ship remain under arrest.



Members of Venezuela’s National Guard remain onboard the 50,300-dwt Maria L to make sure it does not move as an investigation into the discovery of near 420 kilos of suspected cocaine continues.

Local authorities at Puerto Jose pounced on the 2003-built supramax late on Tuesday night after a diving inspection revealed the contraband attached to the hull.
