Hong Kong's Ming Wah is happy with its most recent chartering deal after it secured a lucrative capesize period charter before the market dipped.

The China Merchants subsidiary has fixed the 180,400-dwt Pacific Success (built 2011) to Berge Bulk for eight to 11 months at $16,400 per day. The deal was done two weeks ago and Ming Wah officials believe it represents the highest rate achieved by a comparable ship since the recovery began following last year's desperate market lows.
